To accommodate the nationwide shortage of nursing home care unit beds in the VA system, a 120-bed Nursing Home Care Unit was designed by Blitch Knevel (in a joint venture) in downtown New Orleans. The nursing room developed by BKA has become a prototype for the VA system.
