“Land is precious on a small, inner-city campus. So we need to maximize space while promoting efficiency in buildings that are often complex and highly specialized. Blitch has done that. At the same time, their designs tie the campus together in a new architectural symmetry.” – NORMAN C. FRANCIS, PH.D., PRESIDENT, XAVIER UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA
The Library is designed to maximize flexibility and future expansion through its square shape, modular grid, and stacking of all administrative functions on one side of the building, and location of all stacks on the other sides of the structure. The Library floors rotate around a central atrium space that rises through the six levels of the structure, culminating in a large skylight.
