This addition created a new main entrance to the existing body of the hospital through a 4 story open-air atrium. From Gause Boulevard, patients and visitors may enter directly into parking or utilize the covered drop-off area at the atrium entrance.
Footbridges cross the atrium on each level, from parking directly to the medical offices. Italian-influenced floor tiling complements a large custom mural on the rear wall of the atrium space. A former parking area behind the Outpatient Center was also transformed into a landscaped courtyard, providing pleasant views from patient rooms and Outpatient facilities.
The steel and brick construction of the Outpatient Center and the concrete and brick construction of the parking deck utilizes locally produced St. Joe brick to match the existing Slidell Memorial Hospital buildings.
