Just as we value our relationships with our clients, we also recognize the importance of appreciating our employees. The staff of Blitch/Knevel Architects enjoy beautiful offices in an historic building in the heart of New Orleans’ downtown Warehouse District and Historic Downtown Covington. We offer free parking for our staff and host a variety of after-hours events, including regular visits to New Orleans’ own Rock‘n Bowl.
Our firm is committed to developing our employees to their fullest potential. Our Interns gain valuable experience in all aspects of the profession as well as those necessary to complete their IDP requirements.
Following the strict guidelines of the National Park Service and local historic districts, Blitch/Knevel renovated a former skid row building of the Warehouse District into an award winning professional office building. The first floor and newly created mezzanine level houses Blitch/Knevel’s offices while the second and third levels house professional office suites.
Blitch Knevel Architects renovated a 1960s era dress shop into a distinctive new Northshore headquarters facility to showcase the firm’s design creativity.
As part of the St. John’s historic district of Covington, and to take advantage of the prominent location at the entrance to the city, Blitch Knevel added a new metal roof to conform to Covington’s historic guidelines and replaced the plain façade with a series of heavy wood trellises to modulate the surface of the structure. The bold colors and deep tones draw attention to the building and are actually historic colors that might have been found in the area at the turn of the 20th century. Decorative touches such as custom fabricated steel mailboxes and bright banners further enhance the overall office appearance.
The office has been host to many community events since its opening in 2015, and has brought recognition of the firm to new and existing clients who know exactly where the new Blitch Knevel firm is!
